As reported by The Wall Street Journal, Anheuser-Busch InBev is reportedly exploring a major move in the ready-to-drink cocktails space, holding advanced discussions to acquire BeatBox, a fast-growing brand known for its fruity, high-ABV punch and tea beverages. Sources familiar with the negotiation say the potential deal could value BeatBox at roughly $700 million, with both sides aiming to finalize an agreement soon if talks continue to progress.
Founded in 2011, Austin-based BeatBox has become a standout player in the evolving pre-mixed alcoholic drinks category. The brand’s colorful Tetra-Pak packaging, approachable price point, and bold flavors have earned strong loyalty among younger legal-age consumers. Backed early by Mark Cuban after an appearance on the investment pitch show, Shark Tank, BeatBox is expected to generate about $175 million in revenue in 2024, according to previous reporting.
For AB InBev—owner of Bud Light, Budweiser, Stella Artois, and Michelob Ultra—the acquisition would further expand its footprint in the booming RTD cocktails market. The beverage giant already owns well-performing brands in this sector, including Cutwater canned cocktails and Nütrl vodka seltzers. Industry analysts say the BeatBox deal would help AB InBev better compete for younger drinkers who are increasingly shifting away from traditional beer toward single-serve cocktails and ready-made mixed beverages.
The interest also aligns with a broader wave of consolidation in the category. Sazerac’s purchase of BuzzBallz—another popular ready-to-drink cocktail brand with a strong festival and convenience-store presence—demonstrated how valuable high-ABV RTDs have become. BeatBox, priced at around $4 to $5 per pack with an alcohol content ranging between 8% and 11%, fits squarely into this fast-growing segment.
As beer consumption softens across the U.S., AB InBev continues to lean on brands like Michelob Ultra to maintain momentum. Adding BeatBox would further diversify the company’s portfolio and strengthen its position in the thriving ready-to-drink cocktails category, where flavor variety, portability, and affordably priced alcoholic beverages continue to attract new consumers.
