A shopper in Washington state recently noticed something at their local Costco warehouse — a new Kirkland brand vodka + soda that looks very similar to the popular and best-selling canned cocktail in the U.S., High Noon Sun Sips.
No official statement has come from Costco directly regarding their new lookalike vodka-based hard seltzers, however, it appears that the retail price will be around $24.99 for an 18-pack consisting of the the following flavors: Peach, Watermelon, and Pineapple.
While pricing will naturally vary by location based on a number of factors including local regulations and taxes on ready-to-drink cocktails, $24.99 for 18 High Noon knockoffs is significantly lower than similar products currently available in Costco warehouses and elsewhere.
1/26/25 Update: The RTD Magazine team has located Costco's new ready-to-drink vodka + soda in a Tampa Bay area warehouse with a sales price of $24.99 ($8.00 less than Costco's $32.99 price for the High Noon peach, watermelon, and pineapple 18-pack which they also sell). Our team also observed that Costco has displayed their Kirkland Signature brand vodka seltzers on a main aisle facing endcap near their beer and wine section, while the High Noon variety pack was displayed as it normally is, down a side aisle along with other beer and wine selections. It's also worth noting that our team additionally noticed that there were no longer any of High Noon's tequila + soda products available at this particular warehouse, in what appears to be a fairly recent development as well.
In addition to the colors and packaging, the content inside the can appears to be nearly identical as well, with each gluten-free serving containing 100 calories and a 4.5% ABV.
No word yet on who is manufacturing this product under the Kirkland name for Costco, but if it's not High Noon's parent company — wine and spirits behemoth, Gallo — it will be interesting to see how the current relationship between the two respective industry giants proceeds.
More to follow.
