Washington DC — Electric Highway, a new ready-to-drink fortified wine brand, has launched in the DMV market with a clear mission: bring serious craft and quality to a category that has been overlooked and dismissed since inception.
Fortified wine RTDs have long been treated as a budget category that's high in alcohol, low in ingredient quality, and disrespected by both retailers and drinkers who assumed there was no room for improvement. Electric Highway was built to challenge that assumption directly.
Each bottle is made with real muscadine wine, real cane sugar, and natural flavors, bottled in a recyclable12 fl oz glass stubby bottle with a crown cap rather than the lowest-cost format typical of the category.
The brand currently offers two flavors: Atomic Punch and Peach Bubblegum, both at 16% ABV. Founder Ian Wolf brings a background in the wine industry to Electric Highway, having previously built a wine import business. This experience directly informs the brand's emphasis on ingredient quality and sourcing.
Electric Highway has built its presence through direct retail relationships and in-store tastings across the DMV, with consistent reorders. The brand's social media has documented its growth and sense of humor in real time.
"This is the first premium brand in a category no one took seriously," said Wolf. "We take the category seriously. We respect the consumer.
